The new motorcycle test got off to a great start when one of the first to take it fell off and broke his arm. There have been several other reports of departures from the bike on this part one module in a “safe” environment. Let’s see what it takes for the DSA to have a rethink.

Suzuki have launched a new security and marking system with Retainagroup. For £49 including fitting, the device allows the bike’s identity to be easily checked and should be a useful weapon in the fight against motorcycle theft. Reduced insurance premiums are an added bonus of fitting quality, recognised security devices.

Motorcycle sales are holding up well in spite of, or maybe because of, the economic gloom. Many households are looking at running one car as opposed to two, sounds like a great excuse to buy a bike!

BMW are producing a special edition R1200GS model to mark the 500,000th bike since its introduction in 1980. 500 will be produced featuring a unique white paint job and other special coloured components.

Troy Bayliss has lost none of his edge, recently lapping faster than Ducati’s official test rider, Vittoriano Guareschi, on the GP9 MotoGP bike. After testing at Mugello, he revealed he will be on the bike again later in the summer.

Fellow WSB and MotoGP riders are hoping Troy doesn’t change his mind about retiring...

A motorbike powered by lithium ion batteries will be running in this year’s Isle of Man clean emission grand prix, TTXGP.

Students from Imperial College, London have entered the machine in the green race. The next generation of two wheeled vehicles is likely to be powered by one of these fledgling technologies. Whoever comes up with the solution to powering future transport will be in for some serious money.

The Huntsman MCC will be holding their annual show at The Huntsman at Eridge, south of Tunbridge Wells. This will take place on Sunday July 26th from 11.30am.

Events include a BBQ, raffle, live music, trade stands plus vintage, modern and custom bikes on show.
