Haslemere Motorcycles have MOVED!!
Haselmere Motorcycles, one of the south's most respected and successful motorcycle dealers is moving to a larger site. In fact many keen motorcyclists will be familiar with the new venue, formally Planet Moto of Whitehill the new showroom has capacity for 200 plus motorcycles, up from Haslemere’s old building's 150 maximum. The purpose built showroom is without doubt in the prime spot in the area, being on the A325 just 5 minutes from the A3 (sign posted Bordon) and just a short ride from Haslemere, Farnham, Alton, Petersfield. Even Portsmouth and Guildford are within easy striking distance. "The Haslemere shop always was a little bit of a pain to try and park outside, but the new building has a large car park opposite and even a triple width pavement with a dropped kerb especially for bikes to park, perhaps 40 bikes worth of space!" said a spokesman for the company.
Many of the local residents have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, many saying that the proposed three storey flats were not quite what the area was crying out for. In fact Haslemere motorcycles are keen to point out that motorcycles and scooters use less fuel, ease congestion (hugely), are cheaper to run, free to park and make you smile.
Haslemere Motorcycles has a motorcycling history that stretches well into the sixties with considerable involvement in the competition side of biking.
The Haslemere shop was opened in 1982, with the previous shop including Cranleigh Motorcycles that ran in the endurance world championship.
Haslemere Motorcycles had its biggest success so far in 1986 winning the British Superstock championship with the rider Kenny Irons on a Yamaha FZ750, that championship became British Superbike. Irons went on to partner Kevin Schwantz in the factory Suzuki team. Haslemere was second in the championship the following year with manx rider Roger Hurst. Haslemere won a dealer award in 1987 from Yamaha, and a prize of a trip to Japan. Other riders have included Francis Williamson, who went on to be National Champion and many others. Current rider, TT hero Mark Parrett, is one of the top TT stars, having been on the podium and winning the Yamaha Factory Award in recent years.
"With this fantastic opportunity taken to acquire the best site in the area, and a philosophy that actually puts the customer’s needs first by remaining multi franchise and listening to what our customer actually wants and needs, we can help our customers enjoy motorcycling as much as we do. Suzuki and Yamaha are being fantastic with lots of help with the move and we have been overwhelmed by the number of customers and friends that have offered to help," said spokesman Mike Envis. Haslemere Motorcycles also wish to thank Haslemere Fire Brigade for running and organising the *BIKE SAFE* event that took place on the 21st of September, around 500 people flocked to the event on the sunday and was supported by many local dealers with a strong angle on safety. Mike Envis and The Mark Parret Race team were in attendance on behalf of Haslemere Motorcycles along with a representative from a multiple local Bike orientated company, with such a large amount to see, no wonder the *BIKE SAFE* events are so popular amongst bikers. Haslemere will be relocated by the 20th of October, take a look at www.haslemeremotorcycles.co.uk for details of progress.
