The Ride To Dover

The Ride to Dover
Over a hundred bikers braved the Whitsun bank holiday monsoon to ride with Bill Allan from Ryka’s to see him off at Dover. We stopped for lunch (and for glove wringing out) at H’s, The Motorcycle Café south of Canterbury. A big thank you to all who attended and donated to the cause. Special thanks to the Surrey and Kent Police and to Christine and the riders from Unity for a brilliant job marshalling everyone in challenging conditions.
With an age range from sixteen year old Beth, having just completed her CBT, to an eighty two year old gentleman on his recently aquired YBR250, not forgetting a biker with his young son on pillion, all types of two wheelers were represented. The ride raised over £1500 for The Army Benevolent Fund. We will be continuing to raise money for this worthwhile cause wherever we can.
Bill Allan rode as far as Istanbul, mostly in torrential rain, and was then advised to return as there were riots taking place as a result of the Israeli boarding of the relief boat and the subsequent deaths of Turkish nationals. Bill completed 5,192 miles and has decided to ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats to complete the planned total mileage.
The full story will appear in the September edition of SEB. Bill will still be raising funds for the ABF.
Special thanks from us to all the sponsors who generously supported the ride: Bowen Moto, Haslemere Motorcycles, Cooper BMW Tunbridge Wells, Kent Motorcycles, Portsmouth Motorcycles, Sartso Killer Jeans, Freestyle, Wild and Wicked, Survival Skills, Fast Lane Motorcycles, The Motorcycle Centre Blindley Heath.
