Sartso Killer jeans Product Review

Ride to work most of the year and you expect to spend a bit of time kitting up and then getting changed when you arrive. However, when the sun finally arrives, it’s great to just remove your helmet, jacket and gloves and get stuck in. (Depending on how much you enjoy your job, that is). Most of us want to feel protected as well as comfortable on our journey and this is where the Kevlar® revolution has been such a boon.
I tried some Sartso Killer Illusion jeans once summer finally appeared. A lot of thought has certainly gone into the styling of this product. They look great, even my kids think they look trendy, which is probably quite worrying and certainly a first for me. The denim is reassuringly thick and the Kevlar® layer appears to cover all vital areas. They are ultra comfortable both on and off the bike and cool enough to be worn on a night out.
This is becoming a competitive market and the manufacturers need to balance style, quality and price. According to the Sartso website, the jeans exceed the abrasion test EN13595-1. I checked this out and it does appear to be a genuine European standard for testing bike clothing (suspicious bugger, me). There are well thought out pouches for knee armour, which fitted straight in and seems to stay in place. Expect to pay around £125 for a pair, I think this is great value. Just be careful of the sizing.
I fitted into a 30” waist, which is something I haven’t managed since the 70’s. Quite a compliment but not too accurate!
